McAndrews, Held & Malloy Attorney Greg Vogler Receives Outstanding Service to DePaul University Award

CHICAGO, IL – Oct. 17, 2007 – McAndrews, Held & Malloy shareholder Greg Vogler, one of the firm’s co-founders, has received the Outstanding Service to DePaul Award from the DePaul University College of Law for his exemplary service to the college and to the legal profession.  Vogler was honored in September at the college’s alumni service awards luncheon.

Since 2004, the Outstanding Service to DePaul Award has recognized College of Law alumni who have demonstrated exemplary service to DePaul through volunteerism and philanthropy.  Vogler is one of four 2007 alumni service honorees selected by DePaul University’s Law Alumni Board based upon nominations from the Chicago legal community.

Vogler has been a member of the college’s Intellectual Property Advisory Board since 2001.  He also has been a key supporter of the college’s Center for Intellectual Property Law & Information Technology (CIPLIT), for which he recently moderated a major event featuring volunteer judges sharing their thoughts, insights and opinions on the U.S. Court of Appeals.  Vogler also has been actively involved in DePaul community outreach as a member of DePaul’s President’s Constituency Base since 2006.

Vogler is a patent litigation specialist representing patent owners and accused infringers in all phases of litigation, including jury and bench trials, arbitration and mediation.  He has been lead attorney in successful jury trials and has been lead counsel on multiple Markman hearings, successful summary judgment motions, preliminary injunctions and appellate proceedings.  He has argued several times before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and took the lead role in the briefing of the 1989 patent case Eli v. Medtronic before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Vogler has worked extensively on medical device patent cases and co-chaired the National Symposium on Patent Protection for Medical Devices.  He has been identified as a Leading Lawyer by Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s Leading Lawyers Network.

“Greg’s volunteer work and his generous support of the DePaul community are exemplary,” said McAndrews founding partner and board chairman George P. McAndrews.  “We congratulate Greg on this honor and commend him for his commitment to our profession.”
