Professional Experience
Andrew Bateman joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a law clerk in 2005 and as a full time associate in 2007. While with the firm, Drew has gained experience in many areas of patent litigation and prosecution involving diverse technologies.
From 1994 until 2004, Drew worked for various research and development organizations within Motorola, specializing in radio frequency hardware design. Drew participated in the research, design and testing of a wide variety of wireless communication system components, including smartcards/readers, 802.11a devices and mobile 4G cellular devices.
Drew graduated with high honors from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in May 2007. He was one of nine students awarded entry into the Honors Scholar program, which included a scholarship, stipend, and participation in specialized seminars and legal projects. While at Chicago-Kent, Drew received awards for best academic performance in Patent Law, Legal Writing 2, Evidence, Contracts, and several other courses. Upon graduation, he was elected into the Order of the Coif by vote of the Chicago-Kent faculty.
In 2005, Drew served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Amy J. St. Eve, U.S. District Court judge for the Northern District of Illinois. Drew also served as an Executive Articles Editor for the Chicago-Kent Law Review, and is the author of Reconsidering In Re Technology Licensing Corporation and the Right to Jury Trial in Patent Invalidity Suits, 82 Chi.-Kent L. Rev 933 (2007).
