Professional Experience
After obtaining a Doctorate from Institute Eurécom/École Nationale des Télécommunications in France for his research on multi-user signal processing for wideband CDMA applied to UMTS, Christian Fischer joined Swisscom Innovations, the R&D branch of Swisscom in Bern, Switzerland as a Senior R&D Engineer. At Swisscom Innovations, he was working mainly in the areas of communications theory and physical layer issues for emerging wireless systems such as UMTS, WiMAX, MIMO or mesh networks. He also initiated and led the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communications activities at Swisscom Innovations, resulting in several publications on related interference issues and contributions to the European standardization process.

In late 2004, Christian Fischer started working as a Senior R&D Project Leader for Fischer AG Telecommunications Engineering in Windisch, Switzerland, providing contract research and consulting to clients in the telecommunications and high-end electronics industry. In January 2005, he relocated to Chicago to collaborate with faculty at the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, complementing his consulting activities.

He later joined UIC full-time and since 2006 is providing technical support for patent prosecution matters in the areas of communications, signal processing and electronics at McAndrews, Held & Malloy on behalf of UIC.

Christian Fischer has authored a number of publications in the professional literature and is a reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and numerous international conferences in the signal processing and communications domain. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
