Professional Experience
Charity Therrien joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a law clerk in 2004 and as Of Counsel in 2007.  Since then Charity has gained experience in numerous facets of patent litigation and patent prosecution in a variety of technical areas including biotechnology products and biomedical devices.  

Charity graduated magna cum laude from Northwestern University College of Law.  While in law school, Charity was a member of the Northwestern Law Review and, upon graduation, she was elected to the Order of the Coif.

Charity also holds a Ph.D. in Population Biology from the University of Kansas.  She developed expertise in the fields of genetics and statistics while writing her dissertation, which assessed potential impacts of releases of genetically modified crops.  She is the coauthor of several technical papers and has presented her work at national conferences.

Prior to law school, Charity was a statistical research analyst at Allstate Corporation where she helped to develop computer algorithms for insurance risk segmentation.  Charity also actively supported legal efforts to maintain the confidentiality of these algorithms and to ensure compliance with all applicable state laws and regulations.  

Charity currently resides in Tokyo, Japan and she is conversational in Japanese.
