Professional Experience
Kris Davis joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a law clerk in 2006 and as a full-time associate in 2008. Kris focuses his practice on patent litigation, licensing, and prosecution involving technologies such as medical devices, software applications, and digital communication systems. Kris has represented clients in all phases of patent litigation, as well as in inter partes reexamination proceedings before the USPTO.
Kris also assists clients in developing and monetizing their intellectual property portfolios. He has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications spanning a range of technological areas. In addition, Kris counsels clients in due diligence investigations relating to intellectual property acquisitions.
While attending law school at the University of Illinois, Kris received awards for top academic performance in numerous intellectual property and litigation courses. Kris also served as Notes and Comments Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review, as President of the Intellectual Property Legal Society, as a teaching assistant for first-year and international L.L.M. students in legal writing and advocacy courses, and as the instructor of an undergraduate public speaking course. During his third year of law school, Kris received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and was elected into the Order of the Coif by the University of Illinois faculty. Following graduation, Kris earned national awards from both the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association in recognition of his academic accomplishments and commitment to intellectual property law.
Activities
Kris serves as Lead Chapter Editor for the Patent Litigation chapter of the American Bar Association’s Annual Review of Intellectual Property Law Developments and is a member of the ABA’s Patent Litigation Committee and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Kris also remains active with the University of Illinois as President of the Illini Union Alumni Society.
