Professional Experience
Kris Davis joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a law clerk in 2006 and as a full-time associate in 2008. While with the firm, Kris has gained experience in many areas of intellectual property law, with particular emphasis on patent litigation, licensing, and prosecution involving technologies such as medical devices, software applications, and digital communication systems.
While attending law school at the University of Illinois, Kris received awards for top academic performance in Patent Prosecution, IP Functionality, and Advocacy. In addition, Kris excelled in IP courses such as Patent Law, Trademark & Unfair Competition Law, Advanced Patent Practice, and IP Licensing, as well as in practice-oriented classes relating to patent litigation and prosecution, pre-trial litigation, and trial advocacy. Kris also served as a Notes and Comments Editor of the University of Illinois Law Review, as President of the Intellectual Property Legal Society, as a teaching assistant for first-year and international L.L.M. students in legal writing and advocacy courses, and as instructor of an undergraduate public speaking course. During his third year, Kris received the Rickert Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement and was elected into the Order of the Coif by the University of Illinois faculty. Following graduation, Kris earned national awards from both the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association in recognition of his academic accomplishments and commitment to intellectual property law.
As an undergraduate Chancellor’s Scholar at the University of Illinois, Kris completed extensive coursework in areas such as signal processing, biotechnology, biomedical imaging, and power systems. Kris also gained valuable laboratory experience in fields such as biomedical instrumentation and electronic circuit design.
Activities
Kris is a member of the editorial board for the American Bar Association’s Annual Review of Intellectual Property Law Developments and is a member of the ABA’s Patent Litigation Committee and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Additionally, Kris remains active with the University of Illinois as President of the Illini Union Alumni Society.
