Professional Experience
Mr. Jarvis primarily practices in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, computer law and related litigation, and in patent and trademark prosecution. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. His practice emphasizes electronics and computer law. His technical expertise is in electronics (particularly digital devices and circuitry), computer architecture, and computer software. He has over 25 years experience in general counseling in patent, trade secret, copyright, trademark and unfair competition matters, and in technology and patent licensing. He has represented major clients in electronic and other litigation, including representation on litigation involving the first portable computer developed in 1950, LED printers, hand held calculators, microprocessor controlled medical devices used for eye surgery, pacemakers, defibrillators, fiber optics, digital cellular telephone communications, telephone network switching systems, anti-virus software, networked casino gambling machines, auto test equipment and night vision intensifiers. His work has resulted in successful multi-million dollar jury trials. He has taught in the past at Northwestern University, and at various legal programs.
