Professional Experience
Laura joined McAndrews, Held & Malloy as a summer law clerk in 2002 and became a full time associate in 2004.  During her time as a clerk she worked on projects in litigation and patent prosecution, covering a wide variety of technology.  She assisted in drafting patent claims and responses to office actions.  She also assisted in many aspects of litigation including discovery, motion drafting, depositions, and preparing exhibits for trial.  

While in law school at the University of Chicago, Laura wrote several papers in the areas of international patent protection and trademark law.  She also wrote and participated in the yearly Law School Musical production.  

As an undergraduate at the University of Virginia, Laura majored in both Biochemistry and Archaeology.  As a biochemistry major, Laura underwent extensive lab training.  She also had the benefit of working with Dr. Stephen Macko on a research project that addressed the question of diet among a population of mummies through isotopic analysis of hair samples.  As a junior, Laura was awarded the American Chemical Society 2000 Undergraduate Award in Analytical Chemistry.  In the area of her second major, archaeology, Laura obtained field experience in bone analysis and field methods through the Institute of Human Origins and the University of Wittswatersrand in South Africa.  

Laura also performs at several improvisational theaters around Chicago.
