Professional Experience
Prior to joining McAndrews, Held, & Malloy Ltd as a technical specialist, Dr. Chan practiced as a patent engineer and a member of the Intellectual Property Group in a large law firm in Wisconsin from 2001 to 2008.  His practice focuses generally on intellectual property matters, with an emphasis on electrical and computer related patents.

Dr. Chan has authored a number of transaction, journal, and conference papers in the area of speech signal processing and signal processing.  He was a technical reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing.  He has also assisted several technical projects in association with the FBI, Hughes Network, and some banking industries.

Dr. Chan has extensive research, teaching, and working experience in areas such as speech analysis and enhancement, adaptive filtering, Wiener filtering, filter bank design and analysis, control systems, target tracking, vehicle stability system and analysis, communication systems, Huffman coding, Viterbi algorithms, neural networks, numerical analysis, operating systems, and programming languages including assembly languages.  His dissertation concentrates on speech intelligibility enhancement in the presence of background noise.

After receiving his Doctorate from Marquette University in 1999, Dr. Chan taught at Marquette University from 1999 to 2001.
