Professional Experience
Peter J. McAndrews practices in all areas of intellectual property. He has been involved in all aspects of patent and trademark litigation, acquisition and counseling involving a broad spectrum of electrical, biomedical and mechanical technologies. He has litigated patent disputes involving cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, thermal hand-held labelers and printers, digital television distribution systems, ophthalmic surgery systems, pneumatic actuators, paper-making machinery, cellular telephony, Internet applications and computer software. He has also been involved in litigation and alternative dispute resolution of trademark, trade-dress and unfair competition issues.
Peter is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and has prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications for inventions in diverse fields ranging from ultrasound medical equipment to digital media compression and distribution. He has prepared opinions regarding patent infringement/non-infringement and validity/invalidity for numerous utility and design patents. He has performed due diligence investigations for the acquisition of multi-million dollar companies.
In addition to his intellectual property practice, Peter plays an active role in the firm’s representation of a number of chiropractors and chiropractic associations. This representation has involved such diverse issues as contract disputes, antitrust violations, injunction enforcement, Medicare laws and administrative procedure and has included litigation against federal agencies, medical associations and insurance companies.
