Professional Experience
Bob Fieseler specializes in developing value-oriented patent portfolios for clients in diverse fields of technology.  Bob has served for many years as principal patent counsel for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, the leading U.S. high-energy physics laboratory.  Bob has also represented Ballard Power Systems as its principal patent counsel, from Ballard's infancy to its having become the world's leading developer of hydrogen fuel cells that supply electric power cleanly and efficiently for automobiles and countless other end-uses.  Bob has also represented clients in such diverse technical fields as superconductive energy storage devices, automotive fuel injectors and ultra-fine ceramic nanomaterials.  Bob has extensive experience in representing clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and before the European, Japanese and other foreign patent offices.  Before he became a patent portfolio specialist, Bob devoted years of time to major patent litigation efforts before federal trial and appellate courts and before the International Trade Commission, including the hugely successful, 30-year polypropylene patent litigation for Phillips Petroleum Company.  Bob received his engineering and management degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his law degree from Loyola University Chicago, where he taught legal writing and appellate advocacy.  Bob is also a licensed professional engineer in Illinois.  Bob lives in Naperville, Illinois with his wife and four children, and has been an active musician in his church, a board member in several community organizations, a school district committee member and classroom lecturer, a scout leader and coach of youth soccer, baseball, football and basketball.
