Professional Experience
Sara is an attorney at McAndrews, Held & Malloy where she has worked with such diverse technologies as printing equipment, electronic dart games, lighting control systems, and balloon angioplasty catheters.
Sara's litigation experience includes coordinating all aspects of discovery from dispute resolution to document analysis and management, preparing for and participating in trial, consulting with clients, taking depositions, writing briefs and motions, and researching legal issues. Sara has also drafted license agreements, patent applications, and legal opinions.
Sara is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
As a law student, Sara was a member of the John Marshall Law Review where she served as the Student Publications Production Editor. She also served as a judicial extern for Magistrate Judge Nan R. Nolan, and spent a summer externing in the Public Interest Bureau of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Prior to joining the firm, Sara worked at Tellabs, Inc., a telecommunications equipment company located in Lisle, Illinois. Over her eleven-year career at Tellabs, Sara worked as a Technical Writer, researching, authoring, and editing technical manuals for the company’s digital cross-connect and echo-canceller product lines; as an Engineer in the Reliability Technologies Group, validation-testing the company’s voice frequency products and coordinating and supervising environmental testing; and as a Senior Member of Technical Staff in the Systems & Applications Test Group, developing, executing, and analyzing tests procedures for the company’s digital cross-connect product line.
Sara is also a pro bono advocate in the area of Immigration Law.
