Professional Experience
Yufeng Ma is a partner at McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd.  Yufeng helps clients secure, enforce, and/or transfer intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyrights).

From start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, Yufeng has counseled clients from different industries and different countries on a wide-variety of legal matters.  Yufeng’s routine practice include, for example, investigating patents for infringement or validity; providing validity or infringement legal opinions; preparing and filing patent and trademark applications; working on patent litigations; resolving trademark or domain name disputes; drafting technology transfer, licensing, manufacturing, or settlement agreements; performing due diligence, etc.  Yufeng has been involved in a number of intellectual property lawsuits in federal courts throughout the country.  Yufeng has also conducted appeals before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and has been involved in ex parte or inter partes proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, European Patent Office, and the State Intellectual Property Office of China.

Before Yufeng came to the United States to study law, he was trained to be an intellectual property lawyer in China. Hence, Yufeng has the advantage of knowing the culture, law, and legal systems of both America and China, and Yufeng has used this advantage in assisting with cases involving parties in Mainland China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong.  Besides intellectual property related work, Yufeng regularly advises and counsels U.S. and Chinese companies on other matters in relation to their businesses in China and the U.S., respectively.  Such matters include, for example, outsourcing and OEM supply, foreign direct investment, setting up representative offices or subsidiaries, establishing solely-owned or joint ventures, and employment.

Yufeng graduated from Peking University in Beijing, China with a B.S. in chemistry, and an LL.B. degree in intellectual property law.  At Vanderbilt University, Yufeng studied both chemistry and law, just as he did in college.
